Fraud Minister Lord Hanson, who spoke at our 2025 Fraud Summit has announced at the Global Anti-Scams Alliance (GASA) summit that the Fraud Strategy will be published later this year.
Lord Hanson also announced plans for a Global Fraud Summit, which will take place in early 2026 in Vienna. Organised by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and INTERPOL, the summit will bring together governments from around the world to strengthen the international response to fraud. Additionally, Lord Hanson highlighted that UK government departments have been instructed to accelerate data-sharing measures to protect individuals and businesses, working alongside law enforcement and industry to combat online threats.
These initiatives follow the second meeting of the Joint Fraud Taskforce on 17 March, which acknowledged that “Development of the new Fraud Strategy has begun, and we are working with law enforcement, industry, civil society and academia to identify how to better protect the public and businesses from this appalling crime.”
CCUK has also received a letter from Lord Hanson outlining the above, requesting input into the Fraud Strategy. CCUK are currently preparing a submission to this strategy, so please get in touch with team@commscouncil.uk.
