ITSPA Telephony Fraud – Reporting Guidance with ActionFraud

ITSPA Telephony Fraud reporting Guidance is here

Over the past year ITSPA has been working increasingly closely with law enforcement agencies to combat telephony fraud. Fraud is a constant challenge for the whole telecoms industry around the world, with new techniques developing every year. A particular focus for ITSPA in recent months has been our desire to see telecoms fraud reported more comprehensively to ensure that law enforcement authorities are aware of the true scale of the problem.

In order to achieve this goal, ITSPA has worked closely with ActionFraud (the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud run by the City of London Police) to develop guidance for the industry on how to use ActionFraud’s Online Business Reporting Tool to report telephony fraud efficiently, quickly and confidentially. This guidance was first shown to members at the ITSPA Spring Workshop on 29th April and ITSPA will be encouraging participation in the coming months.

A press release can be found here

We strongly encourage all our members, and the wider industry, to register to use the tool to encourage the criminal justice system to understand the full scale of telephony fraud so that more resources are allocated to investigate these crimes.

ITSPA as a community will continue to work collaboratively on various initiatives to ensure our members are fully up to speed in combatting new fraudulent techniques as well as lobbying hard for necessary change that would help resolve some of the issues in tackling this problem.
