Comms Council UK discusses DDoS

This week, Comms Council UK is amongst the delegates at the Cavell Group’s Cloud Comms Summit in London, attended by service providers and vendors across the cloud communications industry. It’s brilliant to be speaking with so many of our current members at our stand, as well as those wishing to learn more about trade body membership.

In addition to exhibiting at the Summit, Comms Council UK is also hosting a joint panel discussion with the Cloud Communications Alliance, providing further insights into the range of DDoS attacks that took place in September and October last year, while also discussing the mitigation strategies that could be considered.

David Cargill, Colin Duffy, and Nick Holland from our Council, as well as Joe Marion, Octavia de Weerdt and Darren Schreiber from the Cloud Communications Alliance are participating in the discussion, providing their own experiences with the threats and attacks that took place, as well as the ways in which VoIP providers should prepare themselves.

The discussion gives panellists the opportunity to draw attention to the DDoS briefing paper that was written by and distributed to members in December 2021. This document outlines expert thoughts on DDoS attacks that took place in the autumn, as well as considerations and recommendations to mitigate future attacks.

The full, unredacted version of the guidance document is exclusively available to Comms Council UK members. However, we’re pleased to say that an edited summary of the paper can be found right here, on our website!

If you have any questions about our DDoS briefing document or would like to follow-up from discussions at the Cloud Comms Summit, please get in touch with the Secretariat at team@commscouncil.uk.
