BT launches new national digital switchover campaign

BT, together with broadcaster Clare Balding, has launched a new campaign called “Don’t Put Off the Switch” urging the remaining analogue landline customers to take action ahead of the nationwide digital switchover in January 2027.

The campaign follows new research revealing that 63% of UK adults admit to delaying essential "life admin" tasks, such as booking MOTs or updating passwords. More critically, 29% have ignored or delayed responding to messages from essential service providers, often assuming that services will continue as normal if they do not act.

With less than a year to go, the campaign aims to prevent service disruption for those yet to migrate. BT highlighted that digital services offer enhanced security, noting that its scam protection service blocked more than 91 million scam and spam attempts in the last year alone.

The announcement highlights that BT continues to strengthen safeguards, including working closely with local authorities, telecare providers, charities and government as part of the PSTN Charter of Commitments. Clare Balding emphasized the urgency, stating, “When your provider gets in touch, it’s vitally important you act to ensure your landline services keeps running smoothly. If you don’t respond, the services you rely on could be disrupted.”
