What is your name and your organisation?
Georgia Barker, VS Group Holdings LTD.
What is your role at VSG Comms?
Senior Customer Service Advisor and Marketing Manager.
How long have you been working for VSG Comms/been in the industry?
3 years, VS Group provided me with my first role within the sector.
What is your company's USP/key focus areas?
Our key focus areas are to provide a trustworthy and reliable service to customers within the charity and business sector whilst reducing costs, allowing our customers to focus more money into different areas of importance within their business. We hope that we can provide support and guidance throughout the whole customer journey with bespoke offers and packages. Alongside this, we raise money and donate our free time to help raise funds for our charity customers and other local charities, giving back wherever possible.
What achievement is VSG Comms most proud of?
Last year, we were awarded the Social Responsibility award at Pendle Business Awards for our efforts in the Charity sector. The award recognises our hard work and dedication to give back to our Charity friends and customers, whether that be by raising money through events such as Skydiving, walking challenges and volunteering or whether it’s a direct donation for our Charity of the Month campaign. Either way, we are extremely proud of our staff for putting so much effort into helping others.
What are the key trends that you are experiencing currently in the market?
The current wholesale product price increases and the faults that are now present within the legacy products, hence, the constant push to move our customers onto the newest VoIP products on the market.
What do you see as the main industry challenges at present?
Very similar to the key trends, but the biggest challenge for us at present is moving our customers onto the new technology from our legacy products. Not the move itself as much, but more convincing them to change something they are used to. This alongside the ever-rising costs of the legacy products and the delays experienced in the Big Switch Off.
If there was one thing in the industry you would change or want to resolve, what would it be?
Currently the one problem we are facing is the delay in rolling out the new FTTP products. We spent a lot of time and effort into pushing the Big Switch Off for 2025, which has now been delayed again so when we sell this to our customers and the product is not available, it makes for a difficult conversation.
What opportunities do you foresee for the sector?
The migration to cloud currently offers a large sales opportunity for Telecommunications sector and a vast improvement for the customers in the UK. Not only that, I believe that there is a huge opportunity for Women in a sector that has primarily had a large male worker demographic. There are so many new opportunities and roles available that will allow the way for empowering women to advance in their careers.
What benefits do you get out of Comms Council UK membership?
The Comms Council UK Membership has allowed for various opportunities for networking and discussions regarding the future of communications. This for us has been invaluable as it has allowed us to keep up to date with changes within the industry, whilst allowing us to meet new people and share our own ideas.
