What is your name and your organisation?

Sysconfig

What is your role at your company?

Business Development Manager

How long have you been working for your company/ or in the industry?

Just over one year, in the industry and with Sysconfig

What is your company's USP/key focus areas?

Our top USP is our own Hosted Telephony Cloud PBX platform. It’s scalable, flexible, easy to implement and available via our resellers and partners.

Having all the features and functions one would hope for and expect and it’s easy to use, comes with written and video how to guides. If additional enhancements or innovations are required, our in-house development team can help.

What achievement in your company are you most proud of?

Our Sustainability initiatives. We have reduced our paper and energy consumption and use as many low carbon technologies as possible. Our data centres consume a considerable amount of power, and we source renewable energy to mitigate this.

Our building is powered by a water source heat pump which uses heat available in water, dramatically reducing the amount of energy needed. It’s highly efficient compared with other heat pumps and only requires a small amount of electricity.

As part of our environmental policy, we calculate our emissions plant trees to twice this value annually.

We support the bike to work scheme.

Staff are offered several days each per year to become involved in community volunteering.

What are the key trends that you are experiencing currently in the market?

As far as we can ascertain from speaking with our Partners and the close eye we keep on relevant social media channels, by far the biggest trend is discussing and trying to promote the big switch off.

What do you see as the main industry challenges at present?

From what I can see, it’s the service we receive from some of the larger suppliers in the industry, if this were as one would reasonably hope for, our jobs would be easier, our partners and in turn their customers would all be happier, supporting loyalty and customer satisfaction.

If there was one thing in the industry you would change or want to resolve, what would it be?

I would personally like to see much more engaging content on social media about working in Communications, it’s rare that I see a post that isn’t regurgitated and frankly boring.

What opportunities do you foresee for the sector and women in comms?

I see a very bright future for women in comms. The opportunities are countless with roles in Technical Development, Support, Marketing, Sales, and Product innovation. The sky is the limit, we must work hard to tell the World.

What benefits do you find most beneficial from the Comms Council UK membership?

We have not been a member for long, but we hope for this. That being part of this group, each with a different set of skills and points of views, we can learn from each other, supporting business and personal development and industry progress.
