Supporting Law Enforcement in Comms Data Requests - what ITSPs must comply with.

10th November, 3pm

ITSPA in partnership with colleagues at the National Communications Data Service, hosted a webinar to help clarify and remind members on their requirements to support law enforcement agencies in providing communications data as part of the Investigatory Powers Act 2016. This followed on from previous sessions we have held in the past that have proven useful training for relevant colleagues.

Key aims of the session were:

  • A run through of the legal requirements under the Investigatory Powers Act
  • Guidance around how to legally disclose the relevant information to UK Law Enforcement Agencies
  • Utilising existing policies and procedures (Home Office 2018 Communications Data Codes of Practice) the SPOC system including a brief overview of CDS (Comms Data Service Portal)

The session was an overview of the current regime with plenty of chance for Q&A and with scope to explore further sessions on more specifics.
