Alex has over thirty years' experience in the UK telecoms sector and has also worked across Europe on a variety of telecom projects in that time. Her career began at Telewest (a start-up altnet which today is part of Virgin Media) as Interconnect Manager and gained a strong background in cable networks, regulation and commercial negotiations.
Alex has worked as an independent consultant since 1999 focusing on general regulation, Code Powers, commercial negotiations and lobbying. Clients have included Tiscali, Telewest, Energis and Orange, together with various start-up cable and internet/VoIP companies. Alex established Alvand Communications Ltd in 2018 and continues to focus on interconnection (in particular commercial agreements), regulatory compliance and responding to industry consultations and market reviews. Other areas of activity include advising communications providers on how regulatory developments and other topics such as IP migration, fraud and the Telecoms Security Act impact on their business.
Alvand also represents clients at various industry groups including EC-RRG and NICC.
